SUMMARY:GMS- Creating Power Partnerships with the Community!
DESCRIPTION:GOOD MORNING SCHAUMBURG - NOVEMBER On March 24\, 2009\, Brian S. Howerton was appointed as the new Chief of Police of the Schaumburg Police Department. A new organizational structure was developed to provide the leadership to move the police department forward and meet the needs of the community. A new mission statement was created that simply states\, “Serve\, protect\, and enhance the quality of life through community partnerships.” An important component is the relationship that exists between the police department and the business community. The Schaumburg Police Department fully embraces the philosophy of community policing and utilizes innovative strategies to deploy resources to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. Problem solving and proactive policing are extremely important in fulfilling our mission. In a community of 76\,000 residents\, and many more during the day\, the police department needs the support of the community. During this presentation\, those in attendance will meet the members of the senior command staff and be provided with an overview of how the police department operates. Procedures on how to address problems will be explained\, as well as our current deployment strategies of permanent beat officers and beat teams. At the conclusion of this presentation\, the business community will have a better understanding of the police department and partnerships will be formed that can be further developed over time.
