About Us

Little City engages and supports individuals, families and communities to ensure that children and adults with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities can realize their unique potential to live safely, learn continuously, explore creatively and work productively throughout their lifetimes.

Starting with just three buildings and 16 residents, Little City opened its doors in 1959. Since then, Little City has been providing innovative services at its 56-acre main campus in Palatine and through its offices in Chicago, which serve as the agency’s headquarters for foster care, adoption and other therapeutic and clinical support services for families.

Little City assists hundreds of children and adults along with their families throughout the Chicago area, by providing education, training, skills and encouragement that enable individuals to become their own hero. Extensive programs and services are offered to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and epilepsy, as well as visual, behavioral, hearing and emotional challenges.
